We're in City Tower — formerly the Frost Tower — down the hallway that faces North Flores Street, outside the main part of the building. People walk past it for years before somebody tells them.

Tower Plaza opened in 1973, the same year the building did. Ramiro Benavidez started it. I've been cutting hair in this hallway for decades, and I bought the shop from him before he passed.
The people who work downtown find me once and then they keep coming. Mayors, judges, county commissioners, bankers — a lot of them are on the wall behind my chair.

Frost Bank moved caddy-corner years ago and 100 W. Houston is City Tower now. The barbershop never moved. Two chairs, same spot, since the year the building went up.
Fifty-three years. Dora bought it from Ramiro before he passed, and she's been in that chair for decades since.
